4th World Conference on eXplainable Artificial Intelligence
Call for special sessions

The organisers are pleased to invite proposals for focused special sessions at the conference. These are specific thematic sessions that will discuss and explore emerging areas of eXplainable Artificial Intelligence research with scholars and practitioners from industry and academia. We encourage both researchers and industry practitioners to submit proposals for special sessions. We strongly suggest involving organisers from different institutions, bringing different perspectives to the topic. We especially welcome focused sessions that are niche but also attract various types of contributions, ensuring rich interactions within a specific topic in XAI. Researchers interested in submitting a special session are invited to contact us in advance so we can assist in designing successful proposals. In particular, for focused sessions with novel views and angles for eXplainable AI, we are happy to assist in further developing and implementing the ideas and check with the conference organisers on their feasibility.
Peer-review of articles submitted by indicating a special session
Peer-review of articles submitted by indicating a special session – Manuscripts submitted by selecting a special session are reviewed by the members of the main track programme committee and supervised by one of its senior chairs (meta reviewer). Special session organisers/chairs can also be authors and submit their articles to the track they propose (if accepted). In such special cases, the PC chairs will consider conflicts of interest, and special session chairs won’t be able to meta-review their articles.
Requirements – The team of special session organisers must include at least a doctor (holding a PhD). Proposers must submit the following information: 1) an abstract describing the theme of the special track, with a clear link to xAI (max 500 words). A list of chairs, with their Google Scholar URLs, their profile pictures, and the logo of their institutions, and, if existing, logos of particular projects they are working on. Additionally, a detailed bullet-point list of topics, accompanied by concrete examples of the application of existing xAI methods in their respective fields and/or potential novel directions for developing new xAI methods. All the special session proposals will be all assessed after the submission deadline. This material must be sent to organisation@xaiworldconference.com
